PixelRecorder supports a wide range of resolutions for both screen and camera recording.

Screen Recording

Screen recording captures at native display resolution by default.

Retina Considerations

  • Retina displays report logical resolution
  • Actual capture is at physical pixels
  • 2x scaling on most MacBooks

External Cameras

Supports any resolution provided by the camera driver:

  • 720p (1280 x 720)
  • 1080p (1920 x 1080)
  • 1440p (2560 x 1440)
  • 4K (3840 x 2160)
  • Higher resolutions if camera supports

Custom Resolutions

You can set custom output resolution:

  1. Open stream settings
  2. Set Resolution to “Custom”
  3. Enter width and height
  4. Aspect ratio preserved by default
