Record Screen
This guide walks you through recording your Mac screen with PixelRecorder.
Quick Start
- Open PixelRecorder
- Click + to add a stream
- Select Screen
- Choose your display
- Click Record
Detailed Setup
Step 1: Add Screen Stream
- Click the + button in the stream list
- Select Screen as the source type
- Choose capture mode:
- Full Display: Captures entire screen
- Window: Captures single application
Step 2: Select Display
For full display capture:
- Choose which monitor to record
- Preview shows the selected display
For window capture:
- Select from list of open windows
- Window appears in preview
Step 3: Configure Settings
Resolution
- Native: Records at display resolution
- Scaled: Choose custom resolution
Frame Rate
- 30 fps: Standard, smaller files
- 60 fps: Smooth motion, larger files
Codec
- H.264: Maximum compatibility
- HEVC: Smaller files, modern software
Step 4: Start Recording
- Verify preview looks correct
- Check that permissions are granted
- Click the Record button
- Recording timer starts
Step 5: Stop Recording
- Click Stop when finished
- File saves automatically
- File location shown in notification
Tips for Better Recordings
Before Recording
- Clean desktop of sensitive content
- Close unnecessary applications
- Disable notifications (Focus mode)
- Test a short recording first
During Recording
- Use keyboard shortcuts for smooth control
- Avoid rapid mouse movements
- Speak clearly if recording audio
After Recording
- Review the recording
- Check audio levels
- Verify file integrity
