Sync in Final Cut Pro

Final Cut Pro offers seamless multicam editing with timecode sync.

Import Your Files

  1. Open Final Cut Pro
  2. Create or open a library
  3. Import all PixelRecorder files (File > Import > Media)
  4. Files appear in Browser with timecode

Create Multicam Clip

  1. Select all clips to sync in Browser
  2. Go to File > New > Multicam Clip
  3. Configure settings:
    • Name: Enter clip name
    • Use Audio for Synchronization: Uncheck
    • Sync clips using: Timecode
  4. Click OK

Verify Sync

  1. Double-click multicam clip to open in Viewer
  2. Show Angle Viewer (View > Show in Viewer > Angles)
  3. Check alignment of all sources
  4. Sources should be frame-accurate

Edit Multicam

Angle Viewer

Enable Angle Viewer:

  • View > Show in Viewer > Angles
  • See all camera angles at once
  • Click to switch during playback

Switching Angles

During Playback:

  1. Play timeline
  2. Click angle in Angle Viewer
  3. Cut is created automatically

After Playback:

  1. Blade at cut points
  2. Select clip section
  3. Change angle via right-click or shortcut

Audio Handling

Include Audio with Video

When creating multicam:

  • Audio follows video angle by default
  • Switch audio independently if needed

Separate Audio Tracks

For BWF files:

  1. Import with video files
  2. Include in multicam clip creation
  3. Timecode ensures perfect sync
  4. Route audio as separate component

Best Practices

Project Settings

Match settings to your recordings:

  • Frame rate: Same as source
  • Resolution: Match or scale

Angle Naming

Name your angles clearly:

  • Screen
  • Camera A
  • Camera B
  • Microphone

Audio Sync

For professional audio:

  • Use separate audio streams
  • BWF timecode ensures accuracy
  • Mix in role-based workflow

Troubleshooting

Clips Won’t Sync

Check timecode:

  1. Select clip in Browser
  2. Open Inspector (Window > Inspector)
  3. Check timecode field

Verify frame rates:

  • All clips same rate
  • Project matches clips

Wrong Sync

If angles don’t align:

  1. Check start timecode in PixelRecorder
  2. Verify recordings started together
  3. Manually adjust sync point
