Sync in DaVinci Resolve
DaVinci Resolve makes syncing timecode-embedded files quick and easy.
Import Your Files
- Open DaVinci Resolve
- Create or open a project
- Import all PixelRecorder files to Media Pool
- Files appear with timecode metadata
Create Multicam Clip
Method 1: Right-Click Menu
- Select all clips to sync in Media Pool
- Right-click selected clips
- Choose Create New Multicam Clip Using Selected Clips
- In the dialog:
- Set clip name
- Choose Timecode for sync method
- Verify angle names
- Click Create
Method 2: Clip Menu
- Select clips in Media Pool
- Go to Clip > Create New Multicam Clip Using Selected Clips
- Configure as above
Verify Sync
- Double-click the multicam clip
- View in Source Viewer
- Check audio/video alignment
- All sources should be frame-accurate
Edit with Multicam
In Cut/Edit Page
- Place multicam clip on timeline
- Right-click > Switch Multicam Clip Angle
- Choose which source to show
- Or use angle numbers (1, 2, 3…)
Live Switching
- Open multicam clip in viewer
- Play timeline
- Click angle buttons to switch
- Cuts are recorded in real-time
Audio Sync
For separate audio files (BWF):
- Include BWF files when creating multicam
- Resolve reads embedded timecode
- Audio aligns automatically
- Route audio as needed in Fairlight
Tips
Project Settings
Match your project to recording settings:
- Frame rate: Same as recordings
- Timeline resolution: Match or scale
Color Grading
- Grade on compound/multicam clip
- Changes apply to all angles
- Or grade individual angles separately
Audio Mixing
- Extract audio to separate tracks
- Mix in Fairlight page
- Maintain original sync
Troubleshooting
Clips Won’t Sync
Check frame rates match
- All clips should have same frame rate
- Project frame rate should match
Verify timecode exists
- Right-click clip > Clip Attributes
- Check Timecode field has value
Check timecode overlaps
- Clips must have overlapping timecode
- Use timeline to verify
Wrong Sync Point
If clips sync but at wrong point:
- Check start timecode settings
- Verify all recordings started together
- Manually adjust if needed
